OUR STORY
Rooted in purpose. Inspired by people. Fueled by coffee and connection.
Overjoy was born from a shared passion for celebrating the unique gifts, beauty, and potential in every person. Inspired by the disability community and our three children's experiences with Unified programs and Special Olympics, we began dreaming of a way to bring our family's passions together to serve others.
Mindy's background in teaching and her heart for helping people discover their potential, paired with Chris's business experience, patience, faith, and steady guidance, created a strong foundation for something meaningful. We had often talked about combining our time and talents to work hard, serve together, and make a difference.

Then, during a baseball tournament in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, we stumbled upon a coffee cart called Parable Coffee Co. at a farmers market. What started with a delicious cup of coffee quickly became something more. Parables? That was also the name of our church's disability ministry! That simple connection sparked a big idea: What if we could bring a coffee cart to our church and create meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities?
What initially seemed like a far-fetched, life-changing endeavor became a dream we couldn't shake. Countless hours of researching coffee, exploring inclusive employment, and discovering creative ways to teach and train only deepened our excitement and strengthened our purpose.
And so, Overjoy began to take shape, a place where great coffee brings people together, meaningful work creates opportunity, and every person's gifts have a chance to shine.
